Denver – come explore the city
Denver, the capital of Colorado, is the most populous city in the state. It is nicknamed as the Mile-High city because of its exactly one mile elevation above sea level. Once a dry plain dotted with a few willow and cottonwood trees and dusty buildings, Denver today is a lush, green and active area having beautiful skyscrapers to the modern suburban style of developments.
About its trade and commerce
Essentially a mining city in older times signifying the gold rush in the Midwest region of Kansas, the city today serves as one of the major trade points for industries across the United States. It is an important point for storage and distribution of goods as well services to Mountain States because of its location. It is also an important trading link between West coast and the big cities in the Midwest, like Chicago and Detroit.
Denver- a city for singles
Denver has many museums and art galleries recognized nationwide. Denver art museum is the second biggest performing art center in US after New York’s Lincoln Center. LoDo, short form of Lower Downtown, is a popular neighborhood center housing scores of art galleries, bars and clubs. It also has many pop, jazz and folk groups. It is consistently recognized in recent times as the best city for singles. There are a number of opera houses built here under a city beautification program, such as Ellie Caulkins Opera House.
Denver is dotted by parks all around the city having more than 200 of them, from the small size mini parks to the large City Park housing Denver Zoo, Denver Museum of Nature and Science, number of lakes and a boathouse. Other important ones are Washington Park, Cheesman Park, Denver Botanic Gardens, Six Flags Elitch Gardens, etc. Apart from these city parks, there are a number of mountains parks, the most prominent being the Red Rocks Park with large sandstone boulders, which provides natural scenic beauty and houses a unique Red Rock Amphitheater.
About its beautification programme
Denver has transformed a lot due to its city beautification program. The 16th Street Mall is about one mile tree lined stretch in the heart of downtown having a plethora of store, bars, restaurants, shopping plaza offers a diverse shopping experience. Coors Field, with a seating capacity of about 50000, is a popular hub of activities in the summer and is a vibrant component of Denver. Five Points neighborhood is one of the biggest neighborhoods in Denver, and houses some of the most popular museums and heritage centers. The Colorado’s Ocean Journey is another hot destination for tourists, which is an expedition along two rivers, Colorado and Kampar, giving a beautiful view of the aquatic life and the tropical jungles.
Denver is served primarily by the Denver International Airport, which is the world’s tenth busiest airport and the fourth busiest in the United States. In addition, there are three general aviation airports in the area, Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport, Centennial Airport and Front Range Airport, operating private and non-scheduled commercial flights.
